Managing Director, Communications and Public Engagement

Lisa GonzalesAs the managing director of educative communications, Lisa Gonzales plans and manages the Foundation’s communications and field-building efforts, and oversees the development of print and digital products that guide, inform, and influence researchers, policymakers, and practitioner audiences. Prior to joining Carnegie, Lisa was the director of editorial content for the Learning Policy Institute where she was a member of the communication, early childhood learning, and deeper learning teams and oversaw the development of all publications.

Previously, Lisa worked as an editorial communications officer at the Pew Charitable Trusts, as well as a writer and editor at NASA and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. She also taught advanced writing at the University of Notre Dame and women’s literature at Saint Mary’s College, both in South Bend, Indiana.

Lisa received an M.F.A. in fiction writing from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. and B.A. in literature and writing from the University of California at Davis (summa cum laude). A former Jacob K. Javits fellow in fiction writing, her short fiction has appeared in several literary journals.
